The Mid West

The Mid West intrigues me. I have to admit, I am not really well versed in this area of the country - I fly over it on my way to the west coast but the closest I have ever come to actually visiting it is when I have a layover of a couple hours in Denver's airport... So this (Rather large) area of the country is kind of a mystery to me. I did end up in Great Lakes for a couple months (Wasn't impressed) and visited Chicago (Was very impressed) but beyond that not much is known by me.

So what makes me ever consider it? Well, I keep hearing great things about Denver and Boulder in Colorado, Chicago, and St Paul. On the one hand, it supposedly has some fun cities. On the other, it has great distances of nothing separating those cities. Maybe that isn't a bad thing - or maybe it is (I honestly don't know).

Some areas to consider :
  1. Denver - Seems like a nice place, but I don't know much about it
  2. Boulder - Again, everything I read makes it sound really nice but I don't know much about it
  3. Chicago - Beautiful city.. but perhaps a bit large for what I am looking for
  4. St Paul - I know this mainly from books by Garrison Keillor, so my vision of a big version of Lake Wobegon might be a tad skewed...
Like I said in the last post - I am sure that there are other areas to discuss, so feel free to leave a comment if I missed something...
